I heard something not so long ago that made me curious to ask others. "I can't believe we pay our hard earned money to pay for Firefighters to sit around watching cable, using phone, eating food and being entertained while we pay for it" What do you really pay for? How much do you think you support them? Give your opinion good or bad.

In our area, we have volunteer fireman. There are no professional fireman. I have great respect for our volunteer firemen as they are dependable and they have heart. They also work hard for the funds just to purchase new firetucks and needed supplies.

So it is okay if they run into a burning building to save your sorry butt. However, they really don't need to have cable TV. You can't be serious. Those men and women put their lives in danger everyday and save countless lifes. They train hard to be the best they can be, what other job would require that you be a way from your family for days at time. If you worked for a company that required you travel and stay at hotels they pay the bill, including cable in your room, dinner, phone calls, internet, taxi, airline tickets etc.

I'm not slamming Firefighters at all. All I stated is I heard someone make a remark and posted it to see if other people felt the same way. Believe me I believe Firefighters are worth so much to everyone, but I do not believe they are paid enough to do the job they do. No, I am not a Firefighter, my husband is.
