I do beleive my friend with whom i am confident that he purely understands me. You may have many friends but not all of them are equally dependable. A very few are true friends while many others are just opportunist kind of friends.

It would have to depend on what they were telling me . If they were telling me something about another friend that didn't seem right to me I would watch to see if I knew what they were talking about but if it were something about something I know nothing about then yes I would believe them .
