Or crackberry or whatever you want to call it today. It works like a charm getting me my e-mail 24/7/365. I don't get any break from it, I work in IT and am expected to be available for escalations at anytime and boy oh boy does my Crackberry allow me to be reached at any place, anytime.

haha yeah. The troubles that come from 'always on' technology. I know i'm not always on and quite like my downtime and being off air ! Best bet may be to alert any emailer with a strap line to the effect of 'Available 9-5, Mon to Fri' and then it's up to them whether they expect you to deviate from clear black&white instructions. Same with the calls, if they use email too they would see the strap line and can't expect to get you on the line out of hours.

I hear your frustrations loud and clear my friend. I use a Treo with corporate email functionality and feel that it is very useful when I travel but when I am at home with my family, it is understood that I am not required to answer emails. Does this stop people from emailing me....of course not...and it is especially annoying when the email starts with " just in case you're checking email..." or " I know you are off of work but..." Sometimes I NEED to be disconnected.

I don't like your blackberry........except on those rare occasions I need to get ahold of you....... I can always send you an email wherever you are.......but a cellphone would do the same.
