My daughter, who is 16, is a competitive high school cheerleader. I am shocked at the amount of money that I have invested in this sport. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that she has such an intense focus and it does leave her with little free time, but the expense of gymnastics, sweat outfits, shoes, hairpieces, you name it has really added up. I'm about $1,000 into the first year of cheerleading here. I also never realized what an intense sport this is! Tomorrow is our first competition, so I get to see my first reward! Do you have a daughter that is involved in cheerleading or know someone that is, and is it as expensive for them?

Cheerleaders. - Beautifully cheerleaders.Who was or had daughter cheerleader?
I haven't daughter at all, just a son.But it is very good your daughter is a cheerleader. So she spend her free time to something good.Unfortunately now the more of the children didn't do anything creative. The cost of cheer leading is a problem but I'm sure you will find way to handily it.Now her first competition must finish, just tell us how she was and how you fell watching her.

I'm very happy that cheerleading takes up most of her free time. I just never realized how expensive it could be. I have been able to pay for it so far, mainly because we can pay for things in installments. She's had 3 competitions so far, and I'm extremely proud watching her!! She doesn't think she will continue though, the time consuming part is affecting her studies, and she doesn't like that, and neither do I. Thanks for your reply!! :)

Wow, I'll count my blessings that my daughter's cheerleading is simply for school spirit and one local competition to benefit cancer. Total cost for me has been about $45 for the outfit and special shoes, etc. She plays hockey too, which is the expensive sport so I'm certain I wouldn't be paying that much for BOTH! YIKES!

My daughter's friend is totally into hockey. I am shocked at the price of ice fees, equipment, team fees, etc. Hockey is definately way more expensive here then cheerleading!! I've enjoyed my daughter being a cheerleader, but her grades have been slipping and she doesn't want to do it again. That's fine, I want her back to being an honor roll student!! Thanks much for your reply!! :)
