basically two types: battery operated and line voltage operated. It pays to have both in your home. Naturally, the line voltage type will not work in a power outage, but they can be a lifesaver when you forget to change the batteries in your other detectors.

Types? I have the ones that go up high on your wall. They are round, run on batteries (Make sure yours are good) and make a horrible noise when they go off..So don't burn anything in the kitchen...lol

If you use filter while smoking its not effect your health. Filter will stop most of Nicotin in Cigerrettes.
