I haven't seen many who have their hair strightened lately. Is it in or out? Some people say that they had problems with wax used for straightening. Any idea?

Actually I am not sure whether it is in or out but I do know that people with curly or wavy hair have been having it straightened for decades now. At the same time those with straight hair have been having it curled, permed and those sorts of things. What it does show is that most people want something different to what they actually have. One of the main problems is that these people are very much more aware of what damage can be done to their hair by the constant use of chemicals and waxes which are applied to be "fashionable". Of course the younger ones will still have certain things done, but many people in their 20's and older look for alternatives that are not so damaging. Chemicals are dangerous and anything that alters the colour of the hair has some chemical compounds in it and at the same time there is the possibility of an allergic reaction and/or burning to the hair or scalp. Long term damage can be caused if improperly applied or if the wrong strength is used. Wax is similar to chemicals in that it too can burn the hair or scalp if improperly applied or the temperature is not correct. It can actually cause long term damage if it burns the scalp, and most women are aware of this situation now, so they will avoid it is possible. Personally I am happy with my curly hair and since I have matured a little, I realise that it is easier to look after than having to continually go to the hairdressing salon to have work done on it. Not only the regular cutting or trimming but also having it straightened, when in fact if it is short it is easier to just wash and brush and it will fall into place. If it is longer then it falls naturally or I can wear it up if that suits me. In a nutshell, women do learn that their natural look is often what suits them, rather than going through all that agony in the name of fashion. :)
