Depends on how old the baby is, but even then it can totally depend on the baby... some need more sleep, some need less. My daughter is 10 months old and still takes 3 naps (sometimes 2, but then she's a bit cranky and overtired). They can vary from 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours long each. Then she goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps through until 7am!

The younger the baby, the more number of naps he will take. As the baby grows older the number of naps is reduced. My son at 21 mths only has 1 nap now, which is after lunch and he sleeps 1 1/2 to 2 hours

well i don't know how many hours they SHOULD have but i let my baby sleep for about 2 hours during the day because if i don't she's moody, the only bad thing about it is, she won't go asleep early then at night, so i try to keep her awake all day if i can.
