Do you think private schools should receive funding from taxes?

I think that taxes should only pay for public schools. If someone doesnt want to use the public school system that is their choice but the public shouldnt have to pay extra for them making that choice. If private schools are funded by taxes they should be called public schools and have the same standards as public schools.

I do not think private school should recieve funding from taxes simply becuase not every kid wants to go to a private school. Another debate is should Catholic schools in canada recieve more than public schools, as majority of people are christian or catholic to some extent and do take advantage of the catholic school boards.

Your statement says it all. Public funds should support everyone. If they choose not to use them that is their choice. Private schools seeking tax funds had better be sure they follow all of the rules of a public school and not set themselves up as exclusive for a select few. I believe the taxes spent on private schools can be better spent improving public schools and bringing them up to par. Contrary to popular belief, all private schools are not excellent. Many of them are substandard. They have teachers that are not certified and they have programs that are inadequate. In fact, some private schools are nothing more than shields for christian training. People should really look into a private school first and not ASSUME they are getting the best education for their child.
