What makes you give a discussion or response a good or bad rating?? I usually try and give everyone a good rating unless what they have written is just plain flat OFF THE WALL!! What about you?? and do you rate all the discussions you read or respond to? and do you rate those who respond to you, or do you just not do it at all?

I rate those people who always post their own ideas with "+"; and I rate those people who always post just a single word with "-". That is the way I am doing now.

I very rarely give anyone a bad rating. If they make an effort at answering a discussion then I give then a positive.

I rate all the discussions I start and I rate all discussions that I respond to. I rate most of the responses in the discussion, too. Sometimes I don't rate them if I think they are just saying what they think someone wants to hear, and it looks like they didn't even really think about it. As long as the person stays on topic pretty well and adds something to the discussion, I give them a +. I very rarely give a - unless they put something totally stupid.

It is rare that I give a -. The only way that I do that is if it's just a one word response. Also, if it's just a couple of words where you can tell that the person is not reading, they are just randomly typing to every discussion to make money. Example - what this -- or hey -- or whats up. I'm all for the making money. But,that's ridicules. Other than that, I pretty much give + to everyone.

If someone is cursing or being unreasonable, and it is more than a difference of opinion, I'll give them a negative. But just because they disagree with me doesn't mean a bad rating. To get a good rating I look for originality or thoughtfulness, sincerity, or all three.
