The mother tongue of the majority of the population of the world is not english. But why is that english is the adopted and most common modes of communication. More than one-third of the world population lives in china and india together, the languages of the people of the country not being english. Asia taken as a whole has many other languages like korean, japanese etc. And then there is Russia, whose national language is not english. The language of the Arabic States is also not english. Majority of the countries in the African continent do not have english as their national language. When it comes to Europe, there is France, Spain, Germany etc also whose national language isnt english. The countries in the south american continent like Brazil, Puerto Rico and others also dont have English as their mother tongue. Mexico dosent have english as their mother tongue. If three-fourths of the globe dosent have their national language as english, WHY SHOULD ENGLISH BE THE MOST POPULAR LANGUAGE AROUND? Is english actually easier to learn than the other languages?

I am not sure if English is easier to learn than any other language. I think the reason english is the language is because it is the language spoken by the most powerful and richest country in the world. Even before the settlers landed in the US, England was powerful and dominating, they spoke english. I don't think population has much to do with it.
