The Goliath Bird Eating spider. Thank goodness harmless to us humans. There is weak venom in their fangs. Theraphosa leblondi actually eats crickets and mealworms. It is native to South America and can be 12 inches length leg span. Does eat a mouse now and then. Eaten by Indians in the area, since they are protein. They use the fangs as toothpicks, Females supposedly live 6 to 14 years. The males die soon after maturity from 3 to 6 years. They burrow in marshy areas. They are kept as pets they said commonly!

Willowlady is correct. Although I believe you are correct about their venom being weak & not harmful to humans, I am pretty sure their bite is still very painful. And like a bee sting, if you happened to be allergic to it, it could cause a serious reaction for you.

well i gotta dissagree, altho its the correct answer, the South American Goliath Bird eating spider is the biggest, it is also deadly, which is also why it is the deadliest spider aswell, it carries thousands of babys on its back and bites in its pray, unfortunately for the victim, those thousands of babys jump on and much too

I have seen different types of spiders and we can see in our home areas but these spiders are very small. In my opinion the biggest spider is Terantula which we cam see these spiders in outside areas and mostly in different countries.I usually watch in TV different types of spiders in AXN Channel.I did not see till then the biggest spiders in my places.
