I have been on the same meds for 8 yrs and now my doc is leaving to work in a VA hospital. A nurse friend of mine said that he knows that he has me addicted to these meds. She said this b/c one of them is a pain killer that she said I should not have been on for more than 10 days. I have been on that one for about 2-3 yrs. The other is a tranquilizer. I have never abused them and taken them as prescribed..or less than prescribed and I have never asked for them early. They are simply medication to me. It seems now that my friend thinks that I will never find a doc who will prescribe me what he has been giving me b/c of the amounts (4/day each). Whose resposibility is it to help me with this? I am trying to find a new doc but don't want to have to send my records everywhere before I find one that will help me. Would love any advise on this matter.

stop taking those medicines immediately, consider filing a lawsuit against that doc.talk to people and ask them about some good docs in your area.and check out that docs reputation on the web.

I wish I could stop taking them immediately but I was told that I could die if I did that. These are powerful meds and my body would not handle cold turkey. My question is am I responsible or is he? I have a couple of docs I am contacting next week. Should I really sue him? I did take them when he prescribed them.
