Should we all follow a religion

I live in a country where christianity is the predominant religion. For a number of years I was actively and devotedly following this path. As time passed I began to lose interest and even disbelive some of its doctrines. In this society it makes me feel sometimes that my failure to believe or live a christian life is bad and the whole 'going to hell" message is preached. I am not one to tell or judge anyone concerning their reliogion. I believe that people are free to accept and follow any religion they choose and they are also free not to follow any at all.

It's not about religion, it's about a relationship. You have to have a personal relationship with the Lord. He will then direct your path into what you are suppose to do in life. It won't matter who trys to judge you, because when you're in with Him everyone else doesn't matter

I agree with you.In fact God is the only one who has the right to judge us. Having a personal relationship with God is very essential indeed.

my view on this issue is that WE SHOULD FOLLOW OUR FAITH not our RELIGIONS. religion is different from faith. religion is more of a coherence of belief, with established rules and dos and donts. i personally believe we shouldnt follow everything our religion says. we should evaluate it on the basis of our faith.

Yes, we are free to follow what religion we want. But then again wise choices make our life good. Do you know that peace is your religion? It's because real religion is not simply a doctrine but a way of life.

i think devotion to religion has caused more wars and missery than anything else on earth other than maybe greed for money, just let religion go im unsure how religious belief fits in with the 21st century anyway, it was out of date and irrelevent in the 20th never mind now good luck, keep on posting

I think religion is created to govern us. and every religion has it own specialities. i too agree with u that people are free to accept and follow any religion they want.

i share the same predicament with you. the Catholic church has been 'losing' a number of its flock especially those who had converted themselves as "born-again Christians." Ask a born-again Christian of what made them decide not follow the tradition of Roman Catholicism, many would speak of one notable difference between the two: the feeling of at-home-ness. Truly, some would say that we Catholics do things mechanically. We recite the "Our Father" without really trying to internaliza what we have just prayed. But I do believe that the problem is not the Catholic faith per se. It is up to us Catholics to respond to the challenges of our times. Moral relativism is one big challenge. We oftentimes find ourselves in doubt whether those so-called "faithfuls" committed grave sins. We hastily conclude that religion sparks conflict. In my younger years, it makes me proud of being in a predominantly Catholic country in Asia. But I realized that we have been fooling ourselves a long time ago... not that we are Catholics, but because we made ourselves believe that we are GENUINE Catholics. I despise those politicians who uses the name of God in vain and in the incoming elections, many would surely glut their speeches with their "religiousity." And I even saw some posters with a background of the Sto. Nino. Religion does not create war. Only those who have misunderstood their religious doctrines do. I am not exclusively referring to Muslim extremists. Many others have taken their bible verses, etc. out of context to justify their personal means. It all starts within us. In the end, we all have to adhere regardless of our religion to what binds us human existence, the natural law. And it takes both faith and reason... reason to enlighten the other... faith to transcend our rationality.
