my dad a smoker

my dad has been smoking since he was a college student, and now he still smokes and we want him to stop it because we all know that smoking is dangerous to your health and for us as well non smoker.
what is the best way to do to make him stop.?

we have tried that already before but its not effective, so he just stay away from reading them he said he is scared and not care watch or read them because anyway i cant stop he says
