i wanna know if food addiction is just a made-up theory used by overweight people (like me) to justify their non-stop cravings for food. sometimes i wanna believe that it is truly a psychological problem because ive experienced eating and eating even though im not hungry. what do you think guys?

well, the word "addiction" means that your body physically depends on said substance. and since we cant live without food, the body depends on it to run...then it would be an addiction. however i think the term "food addiction" as its currently used, implies or refers to the emotional or mental need to eat. whether its an escape or to stimulate a "comforting" feeling when upset. so..i would say that its a mental addiction yes. but im am sure there are many many overweight ppl that do indeed use it as an excuse.

yes indeed, it basically refers to the emotional need to eat and sadly a lot of people(including me) have used this kind of addiction as an excuse to further overeat.
