M S Dhoni is a shining star in the cricket team right now ,so after looking at his good performance through out ,don't he deserves to get promoted ,as he will get more time to stay in the crease and he is reaally well equipped with his firing shots which can break the oppositions confidence ,so i strongly believe that he should be at no.2

I think dhoni is batsman who gives you extra runs necesary to win.He should not be given responsibility to build up the inning.I would like to see him in last 10 or 15 overs.Dhoni is tension for the opposite team. When opposite team is tired he comes in and try to throw every ball at boundry. He is like reserved assault on opposite team.It is resposibility of top order to build up the inning and give dhoni platform to attack.

Dhoni should come in at No. 3. Dhoni is not just a slam-bang batsman. Dhoni has the capability to adjust to the situation and change gears when necessary. We have seen that many times by now. Remember his two best innings were produced when he batted at No.3. In fact, he was selected to the Indian team based on his performances with the Indian A team, where he was batting at No. 3. The only drawback is he needs to stay behind the wickets for 50 overs and then come out immediately to bat if a wicket falls. Gilchrist can do that, can Dhoni? The other option is to get Dinesh Karthick as wicket-keeper and get Dhoni as a pure batsman. Dhoni deserves that. I feel Dinesh Karthick is certainly a better keeper than Dhoni.

Opening with Dhoni has a disadvantage, that he'll have to face the brand new ball. However bringing him at no.3 or no.5 might really work well for India. You are absolutely right that he bats too low down for his calibre and ability and should be promoted.
