And is customer service deteriorating this much? I was just at a major chain store searching for a computer desk. I am early 50's and use a cane. I finally found a desk that I liked and looked around for help. I noted a young man in the chain's uniform chatting with a group of friends (obvious by the way they were behaving and NOT in company uniform) not three feet away. Being rather shy, I waited until his friends left. When I approached the young man and said 'excuse me, please...?' He looked annoyed, turned the other way and left. Rapidly. I had to walk the entire length of the store and no one approached to help. Finally fed up, I spoke with a manager, who said 'oh well'. Needless to say, I left that particular store without making my purchase. I really do not need to spend money to be ignored and slighted. What kind of customer service experiences have you had? And what can be done to make customer service better?

I had the exact opposite experience!:) Guess I'm just lucky to be there at the right time. You are absolutely right about poor customer service. It's a symptom of how little regard we have for each other these days. It's a sad state of affairs but it makes the good ones seeem even better.
