Food Supplement versus Prescripted Medicine

I noticed that there are so many food supplements these days that claims to cure arthritis, high blood pressure and other related illnesses yet something says in the bottle "no approved therapheutic claims". Is it practical, for example, you are taking prescripted drugs and you are taking food supplements at the same time? I think taking two different drugs is expensive. Why take food supplements if you already have your medicine?

In my opinion, people tend to go over board swallowing pills. If they just eat right, then could have better results and save money. Did you know you can overdose even on calcium? People don't understand how too much of something is seriously hard on their organs.
