Ganguly-why such an interest and discussion?

Hi, as we know, so many players have been selected and dropped, in our indian team for the last many years, some even without being given a fair trial. Starting from L.Sivaramakrishnan to Hemang Badani, the list includes kerala's anandapadmanabhan, tamilnadu's sarath and other players like kanwaljit singh, arshad ayub, rajesh chauhan, mohanty to name a few. All know that the reasons are not in cricketing sense in some cases. Even a player like sanjay manjrekar could not find routine place in the team and retired prematurely. But why there is so much of hue and cry when selectors dumped ganguly after an extended fair trial and tumultuous joy when he just scores a 98 in a placid track on his comeback? Do you think the responses on both the occasions are genuine or a concerted effort by people with regional aspirations to artificially inflate his status and influence others' opinions about him?

Hey frnnd i think you are taking it too much emotional. It is no doubt that Ganguly played well for his 98 even if it is on a placid track, but it does not lower his credibility. It was not his fault that he got a placid wicket,U should not forget that in SA he was the highest run getter among all the batsman. He is a class batsman scoring over 10000 runs and when such a player has scored runs it will be disscussed. And regarding other players like badani and mohanty i can only say is that unless and untill U are performing you should be in the team. So if they performed well in the domestic series i am sure they will be considered.

Hi, friend, thanks for your response. The reason that i started this discussion is that OTHERS seem too emotional to be true when discussing ganguly. See all the discussions regarding this in the last 7 days or so. For eg. one fellow writes no india, no ganguly. One more fellow starts a pro ganguly discussion, posts two to three pro ganguly messages himself, and chooses one of his own response as the best! Doesn't all this sound absurd to you? I am not mentioning the names here for decency sake. Even more consistent players than Ganguly, like Dravid was dropped from one day squad some time ago if you remember. He then turned out to be a valuable and indispensible asset to the one day squad when chosen again after sometime. But such a hue and cry was not raised in his favour in multiple forums neither when he was dropped nor when he was chosen again like now. It all happened in their own course of time without much fuss. I am a well wisher of Indian team as a whole without any personal preference to any player. That's why I find such vehemently pro ganguly fake discussions going overboard amusing and have raised such a discussion in this forum. I hope you understand this in proper perspective. Thanks again.
