I fell and hurt my back and leg.

I fell off two steps and hurt my back what is the funny part is I don't even know how I fell. I pulled my back out and was walking bent over and my little boy was asking me what happened. Do you know it is hard to take care of your children when you are hurt and you are a single parent? I had to ask my children to help me get up and put heating pads on my back and leg, then it was harder for me to sweep and wash dishes. Oh man I was in so much pain, when I got up in the morning my spine would hurt so bad I hated to even go to the bathroom. Have you ever fell and hurt yourself so bad that you couldn't move?

Yes, I have hurt myself that bad. Fortunately, for me, my husband,LB(lazy bum), took good care of me. He's actually not lazy about everything. But this is not why I responded to your post. I wanted to point out to you that by having your children help you, it was an important parenting acomplishment. Children want to feel needed and useful and to contribute to the well being of the household. Now, they have had a chance to do so. Next, get them to sweep and do the dishes on a regular basis, as soon as they are old enough.

I agree with Pinkeagle...kids do want to he helpful! And if we allow them to, it not only helps us but it also teaches them responsible and feel more a part of the house. My littest loves helping! All the kids will be helping with putting away groceries and my 5 year old ask what he can do. It is so sweet. And when I give him something to put somewhere, he just loves it! I love the confidence it gives him when he feels as if he is helping. And he loves the praise that he gets when he knows he is helping. :)

Yes! This past holiday season, I fell down the stairs and broke my butt! Not the tail bone but the sacrum....basically, my butt. ha ha But it hurt horribly! and I have seven children! They were out for the winter season, so I was grateful that I didn't have to try to drive. And since it happened at the start of their holiday, I had two weeks to try to get movement back. By the end of the 2 weeks, I was able to finally walk again. But driving was still hard. I am doing much better now. But let me say, I know how you feel! Rest! And I am sure your kids will understand that their mom can not do as much right now. I hope you feel better soon!

Actually after childbirth with my oldest my tailbone hurt me for a very long time! It is quite hard to get around and especially when you are a single parent everything is that much harder for them. I am also a single mother and this would affect life alot for me also!

I have been feel that. In 2004 I got an accident. After that my leg was very hurt. Especially in the right side. I can't do anything. Everyday I just sleep and watching TV. I did that for 1 month. That was a stupid thing I think. 'Cos I don't like TV. Too many bullshit on TV in my country.

I am so sorry that you're hurting so bad! My kids and hubby have always been great helps around the house, even when they were little the kids could help. They used to make it a game to see who could help more....those were the days :-) Now it's like pulling teeth to get them to take out the trash or do dishes.

I am sorry that happened to you and I hope you will get better soon. I hope you've called someone to take care of you since your kids can't do it right now. Sorry, but that haven't happened to me before. I wish you a speedy recovery.

It is so easy to fall and not know how you fell. It is very hard to take care of your kids when you are a single parent even worse when you are hurt. Are you taking anything for the pain? I fell and hurt myself last week. It was so stupid. There are two doors to get into the living room from the kitchen and hall. We block these off so we can limit where our granddaughter is and keep her away from the stairs. Usually we use those big bottles of water but the company missed my water delivery. We had chairs overlapping. I caught my toe and went flying. Now I have alot of weight on. All you could hear was a big thump. My husband comes running, I am all sprawled out on the floor and can't talk cause the wind is knocked out of me. My son comes flying from upstairs. It took me a good 5 minutes before I was able to stand up. Over the next few days I found out I had muscles in places I didn't know the human body did. Lets say Motrin became my best friend. I even had a hard time doing up my granddaughters sleepers. But I had lots of help and I am not a single mother, so there is a big difference.

I hope you're ok now Justme. Did this happen recently? It can be scarey when you're a single parent trying to look after children. I used to worry when mine were younger what would happen if I had an accident or something. Thankfully they're old enough now to know they would have to phone somebody, and my husband is never far away. But it is worrying.

Oh my gosh i have been throught this in July 2005 i was walking outside with my son whom i was holding and somehow at the bottom of the step my knee went out and all I heard was a pop. And boy was it painful to make a long story short I ended up having surgery with a rod and screws and i was totally helpless my husband at the time had to quit his job just to help me out so you can imagine the stress. A young sister also helped me out alot. Im telling you i am very careful around steps now and i move any harmful thing out of peoples ways. I am glad to recover even though i think arthritis settled in my leg.I hope that you recover soon. i wish i could help you believe me I know the feeling.

I hurt myself when I was in school. I did not remember even at that time how I got pain in the legs. I could only remember that I walked up and down the stairs of a building on a weekend holiday. That ended me up by taking one more week for rest. If you are hurt like that how are you able to write here?

I have never fell from stairs and never got hurt in back but I got a seveor accidetn in which I was fell from the bike and my couple of ribs were fractured............ I got my head hit with the pillar........ but by the grace of God I was wearing helmet and ..... I haven't got any injury in my head. I can know that when you awake in the morning how you can feel. It is very difficult to get out of bed in these situations and specially when you have kids and only a single parent to look after. I have simpithy with you Regards

ya it is too difficult to ask ur children to do that and explain things cause they take everything in a playing manner and if v act that v are suffering from pain then they might think something. I have fell and got hurt when i was playing with my brother in law and even he laughs at me when i get hurt it is something funny about that.
