The doctor said my Mom has vertigo that's why she sometimes feels dizziness and headache. Sometimes, to the point she needs to vomit. What is vertigo then?

Vertigo is the sensation of spinning. It's like being on a sudden roller coaster ride that just won't stop. It can be caused by several things. Your Mom's doctor should have investigated further to see what is causing it. Vertigo usually goes away after awhile (with treatment) but it can return after a few weeks. If her doctor didn't tell her what is causing it then she needs to ask him/her and have test run. It can be caused by anything from fluid on the ears or tiny particles in the vascular system. She needs to be tested if she wasn't already.

it is the feeling of dizziness you get when you look straight down from a high place and you seem to lose your balance

i see. maybe that's why my mom avoid looking down or nodding her head. she also uses pillows piled up so that her head would be higher than her body while sleeping.
