Moving soon and have to part with my dog

So I have a 2 year old female pitbull who is beautiful. I've only had her for about 4-5 months but I have gotten really attached to her. I got her from a friend that was moving and couldnt have her anymore and now I have to get rid of her. I feel bad because I care about her but I feel worse for having to find her another home to get comfortable with. How do I know for sure if I can find her a loving home, someone that will take great care of her. I just have no idea what to do.

Most states have pet rescues for specific breeds. Maybe you can find one specifically for pit bulls. These people run these rescues with their own money because of their love for the breed of their choice. That means they don't put them to sleep and they do their best to find them good homes. I fear that if you take her to a regular shelter, she might get put to sleep simply because many people fear pitbulls and don't understand that they are not born agressive. It's the jerks that train them to fight that need to be held accountable for that problem.

Thanks I will check it out. I will never take her to a shelter. They do have a bad name and your right, its not there fault.

I am also a pet owner. I really love these animals. When I have had to move, I look for a place my animals can come to. They are like part of my family. Why would you leave your family behind? Alot of people will say..it's just a dog. But to me animals deserve alot more respect than that.

Yeah it's not just a dog. I'm 22 and i've had dogs my whole life. Shes just like a child to me. My wife is in the army and is getting out sooner than planned. 3-6 weeks from now and we didnt know it was coming and have no place to go. So we are going to have to stay in an apartment and i've tried to see if she can stay with family or friends. But we just recently discovered that she HATES little kids and cannot be around them. We dont have kids yet and plan on having them in the future. I think once a dog her age has something against kids that it cant be fixed. Its difficult
