Do you cook your family a "proper" meal every day or rely on frozen ready-meals?

Life is very fast-paced nowadays, and most women in Europe and the States work full time as well as bringing up their families. In the "old days" women normally stayed at home and there was always a decent, home-cooked meal on the table for the children when they came home from school, - but nowadays many people just rely on frozen and pre-packaged "junk" food because it's easier to prepare. So what do you do? Do you have time to cook a proper, balanced meal every day or only at weekends?

I cook 4 or 5 days a week. I only rely on the frazon food when I have a lot going on and just really don't have the time to do it. I like sitting down with my family and eating together.

I cook every day. I want to serve healthy food to my family. Sometime I use cuting frozen vegetable as time sever. But I always prefer fresh vegetables. And moreover I keep little frozen ready-meals in my frezer, because it is usful some time when you are in real hurry. I mean if sometime I run out of time I can use them.

I agree that having frozen stuf to fall back on is always useful - especially if people turn up unexpectedly. Thanks for responding.

I'm one of the full time working moms :) We sit down once a week and plan a menu for the coming week and then go grocery shopping to purchase all the food needed. So I know ahead of time what I'm going to be having each night. We write down all the activities that will be going on each night so that we know whether it's got to be a quick dinner or it's something that can take a little longer. If it's quick, we may have soup and sandwiches, or mac & cheese and chicken strips, or something like that. But if we don't have any place to go, I try to have a nice meal for hubby and the kids each night. I get home about an hour before my husband does, so I usually have time to fix a nice meal, especially since I already know what's on the menu for the night and will have the meat defrosted and all the food ready.

Thanks for your response. You work very hard and I admire anyone who can do that and a full-time job as well.

Myself and my partner both work full time and take it in turns to cook the meal each night. We have fresh vegetables just about every night and usually have it with fish, sausages, or various pies/lattices from the chiller cabinet so I suppose we cheat a little bit there. But if were preparing something like a corned beef hash, shepherds pie, chilli, or spaghetti bolognese then we cook it from scratch and make our own sauce, tonight we just had pasta with a freshly prepared home-made sauce. If i'm able to, I prepare to make a "proper" meal because then I know what's gone into it.
