Bed times important for children?

Do you think having a specific bedtime for children is important? If so, until what age? Why?
Or do you think it's okay for a child to decide when they go to bed?

i do think its important for kids to have a bed time. i think its important for the parents to have their kids on a schdule with a bed time. all my kids go to bed around the same time every night and its nice cuz then i have my time before bed. depending on how tired i am.lol i have had my kids on a schdule for most of their lives and when we moved here from another state and their dad came home from the war we really didn't stick to the schdule and the change in the kids was so big. i think they need it and so do i.lol
