searching for a "tv dad"

I'm watching this episode of Miami Vice and there's a guy on there the looks very familiar. He was a tv dad on a sitcom from the 80's or early 90's. He is white, dark blond with curly hair. It wasn't Family Ties, not Growing Pains, not Step by Step... Can you help me think of some other 80's or 90's shows based on a middle class family. Please... it's driving me crazy!
