I am using cooledit pro. It is a good software for both professional and beginner. you can mix and do allot of cool stuff with it. you can even remove vocal voice from a song an just leave the instrument playing . Some of the karaoke song have left and right channel and if you want to remove right channel you can do it easily, you can even record your own song and of cause you need a good mic for it. I have a friend do song recording and he is using this software. It does sound like a singer singing after editing and still you can reconise that it is his voice. Hope this help you.
