I got my sirius about a year and a half ago and cannot now stand to listen to the regular radio. Way too many commercials and inane chatter from the DJ's. How many of you guys have made thw switch? Did you go with Sirius or XM? What made you get one in the first place? Any responses of I don't know or similar will be marked with a - Thanks

yeah that does sound affordable. As soon as i can im going to check into it. I hate all that DJ chatter too. When im driving i want to hear music not a bunch of commercials and talk.

I can't see paying for sat radio. I can get a number of good college and public radio stations in my area, and with Internet radio, podcasts, etc. I get more content each day than I have time to listen to. Interesting development that XM and Sirius announced today that they are merging. It makes more sense to have one service than to have two competing ones, with one offering baseball,, the other football, etc.

I don't have satellite radio, but I really want it. When we travel, the rental cars usually have it, and then it's really depressing when we get home and have to listen to the local djs again. I try to listen to CDs in the morning just because I dislike the morning shows so much. Even the public radio djs can get annoying. I really like the new wave station on ... not sure if the car had Sirius or XM. I remember at Christmas time they had a dysfunctional Christmas station that played all the less happy songs.

You hit one of my nerves! I literally want to slam a ball bat into the radio when the DJs start the idiotic drivel! We only go Sirus radio because it was bundled into the satellite dish package that we got for our television. I absolutely love sirius radio! No matter my mood, there is a station playing that type of music non-stop! Sadly, I still have the regular radio in the car. Needless to say, I have numerous home-burned CDs that I listen to instead. On a recent 8 HOUR trip to see my son, we forgot the CDs. Dear God, I thought I would die. Believe me, on the return trip I had CDs, those that I burned on his comptuer while visiting! I did an experiment about a week ago, as I got ready for work, I turned on the regular radio in the bedroom/bathroom. During the entire time, not a single song was played!! Just mindless giggling and meaningless talk!

Yeah I LOVE Sirius its so great! I probably like listening to Howard Stern the most haha that is some hilarious stuff! Also, I like the grunge and alternative 90's rock station, and other alternative and metal-type stations. I really like the variety and selection on satellite radio .. Its amazing!

We have it at the shop and everyone there loves it. Me, well, most of the time when I am working I have my own tunes going so I have to take their word that it is worth the money. I was really surprised at the number of stations that we had and that there were a few that played nothing but alternative, metal, goth and hardcore German techno. Regular radio stations grate my last nerve; some of the local DJ's are cool but the ones that are on the networks like Opie and Anthony are just plain moronic.

I don't have it, but I'd love to have it soon. As a matter of fact, when I got my new car, I was siked that it had radio and CD control on the steering wheel. Makes it a lot easier to flip from channel to channel or song to song when you don't like what's on. Needless to say, I do a lot of channel surfing. I like my station's morning show, so I listen to that in the AMs. In the afternoon, I flip through the stations 'til I get bored or aggrivated and then pop in a CD. We have a new station now that doesn't have DJs and its awesome. They play all kinds of music from many different decades. That's the unfortunate part though. I really don't want all that variety in one station, ya know? I'd like to get XM or something, but I can't afford it right now. Well, I can't afford anything right now. I've been unemployed since September (minus some temp stuff here and there). I'd like to get digital TV or Vios. Right now I have the basic basic stations, and I only have cable because where I live, if you don't have a cable connection, trying to get reception is like a crap shoot! But I will get them all, some time in the future!!!

We have an XM radio in our van. It's perfect! Now when we listen to the radio it's horrible, like you said! The reason we got it was well, my husband had been talking about it, so I bought him one as a present. He hated the regular radio and wanted to give it a shot. Now that they are combining, I wonder if we'll have alot more channels. I'd like to check out the Hair Nation, since that is only on Sirius right now.

I rarely listen to the radio because of the commercials and the DJs. I haven't made the switch yet, because I listen to my iPod most of the time, and don't spend much time in the car. It might be nice for at home, but we haven't really thought about it.
