attitude and choice of words is the only difference and asking instead of telling always helps

Yup! I've encountered a lot of those people, and I do always get sleepy with their know-it-all senseless talking. Especially those who try to lecture me but they themselves don't even know what is right from wrong. So for me, as much as possible, I'd avoid them and maybe ignore them and I'll let them talk to the wall!;)

I can never stand anyone who always tells me what to do. I have my own mind. I do what I think I should do, and not what others think I should do. I am no one's puppet. If it is my parents who are telling me what I should do, I would just keep mum or tell them in a nice way that I know what to do. But If it is just anyone, that person would definitely hear from me. I would tell that person point blank that he or she does not have a right to order me around. And if he/she is really so smart, then he/she should know that he/she should better shut his/her mouth.

I have met quite a few with this kind of people. And yes i get irritated with them, with this manipulative and know-it-all attitude.I have a sister who's really manipulative,i put up with her for a couple of years because she's supporting on my college tuition but that doesnt mean that she will make the decision for me.We had an argument and we didnt talk for atleast a year. But now we're okay i just told her that i dont want someone to manipulate me,i hate it.If you met someone with this kind of attitude you really need to tell them up-front,so they will know you dont like it.

Yes, that is irritating...especially when one isn't asking for opinions or advice. Is this person your father or your employer? If not, tell him to butt out.

Of course i will be irritated, people just like to give advices, even when needed or not,i had a friend like that, always advising and telling me what to do and so i can tell how it looks like.

i would stand by that person if what he/she is saying will help me in some manner or the other even if he is not familiar with me. but if what he/she is saying is just nonsense then i certainly will not stand by that person no matter who he/she is. the reason is obvious that if someone is telling some good things anyone would like to hear it.
