Hi all, This is sad story and there are many of you out there like me. I am working in a world class software organization but they dont pay me for working on weekends. If i talk with HR they say why you left your work pending so you have to come on weekends. I said.."What!!! what are you talking about?". Do you share the same story and what may be the solution for this?

Hi, I also work a lot on weekends and in the evenings to get more work done. It's annoying that i can't claim for overtime or anything, but I'm just hoping its going to pay off soon in terms of my career. The extra work has to help somehow.

Yes it can help you some way or the other, but what if you are a married guy and still your boss wants you to come full day on weekends. This will ruin your married life as well.

That's true. Thankfully I'm not in that situation yet, but can see it would put real strain on a realationship.

I also work for a major IT company. They think we should put them first. Sadly, that ends up being the case. Depending on what position you're in, they probably don't have to pay you overtime. If you're a salaried employee, they probably don't either. Where I live, also I a deemed an "IT professional", and with that exemption, they don't have to pay overtime. Check your local labor laws, then find out if what they are doing is legal.
