My nephew only 10 years old and he thinks that he is a loser

He is a very good kid. he participate in every game. he never got 1st in any but, atleast he tries what should i do to make him understand that winning is not imp but,standing up there and competing is imp. he gets depressed. any suggestion will be helpfull.

Keep on encouraging, loving and being in his corner; As you know, there are those who feel about being number 1 as being important, but I think we missed the boat somehow. We forgot that the road in getting there is part of the journey too; It is sad that we have kids at his age believing he is a loser; that is not good and we're sending a bad message. I see you put this out a couple of months ago and didn't get but one suggestion. I hope this brings you back into the fold. I LOVE your picture too.
