Friendships online

I speak to many different people online. I have friends online from around the globe, through various journal sites and diaper boards. Now, I have friends of mine in real life who say that online friends are nothing more than that, online friends. Infact one of my friends went as far as to say that online friends are only aquantences. What do you think? Personally I think if you share things together, you are there for each other like real friends are, then why can't you call someone whom you are close to online, as an online friend?

I agree with you. I have many online friends and I care just as much about them as I do my real friends. If they make you happy, and you can count on them like a "real" friend then whats the problem? Do you think maybe your real life friends are just jealous of your real life friends?
