American Idol is Unbelieveable

I personally use to enjoy the first few seasons of American Idol, but this newest season is an all time low. It seems to me that innocent metally challenged people are getting paid to audition. I think the show has realized that the bad singers recieve better reviews and therefore show less of the actual people that get through. These people are just unbelievably bad and it is just getting pathetic. Anyone agree? Disagree?

I don't know, I think we just kind of forget from season to season how bad the ones are in the beginning. It's all about the ratings, I know so many people who only watch the show in the beginning and not right through til the end when the winner is chosen. It is a singing competition, however it is also a reality show and they want to show what is going to bring the largest audience to watch. I say every week about how bad the people are and how could they think they can sing, and how can Simon be sooo rude, on and on and yet I still tune in faithfully every time it's on, lol

I couldn't agree more. I used to enjoy the previous seasons too..this time it's so pathetic! I feel its all rigged and nothing is for real. Yesterday was the Memphis auditions..no offense meant..but how did these people who came to audition even think they could sing?!! There was one girl who was barely audible and whatever she spoke was totally incomprehendible..her singing..well it was worse than ever! I mean, the show is in the 6th season, people world over know what it is all about...it's sick to think they are desperate to be on tv hence come to audition. If they don't get selected (which is sure anyways since they are so bad) they tend to make faces and abuse the judges!! Dumb people.

First and foremost, American Idol isn't a talent competition, it's reality television. They purposely audition terrible singers for ratings.

I sort of thought so too! I haven't got any real proof though. There are people out there that really believe they can sing (Mentally challenged or not). They listen to themselves AS they're singing and they sound good, but they've never actually heard themselves sing, like recorded themselves. I only watched the first two seasons of American Idol and I'm watching this season, and I do think it's silly that they've got a lot of what appear to be mentally disabled people auditioning. but hey, tv is tv.
