I'm in university, and one of our required courses is an ethics class, and for our first assignment, our professor gives us an article to read, and wants us to write an opinion piece on it. The article was entitled "Why the future doesn't need us", and it talked about machines taking over mankind, and man 'fusing' with a robot to become one, and how genetic engineering is one day going to kill us all by creating a new species that would kick man off the top of the food chain. Any thoughts on the matter??

Never say never. My sons used to astound my grandmother with their gameboys. She used to say that she never thought she would live long enough to see things like that. If we look at technological advancement even in the last 50 years, who would have thought that we would all be sitting here chatting like we are. And on a computer that does not fill and entire room. I don't like the thought of this new speices taking over the world. It seems very sci fi to me right now. But will I be uttering the same words to my great grandchildren......I never thought I'd live to see the day?????? PS I watche Medical Mysteries this afternoon and there was a gentleman that had both of his arms blown off in an electircal accident. Doctors were able to extract nerves from the left shoulder and implant them in his chest. The experiment was successful and he can now control his prostheisis with his thoughts. He says it feels like his arm and hand are back. He can control pressure, open and shut the mechanical hand etc. Scary, but maybe he is a prototype
