Because he is the source of life and the source of everything. He is also the very foundation of human kind.

Well, in the Bible it mentioned Jesus saying something about that in the Last Super. Supposely, what he did was he turned the bread into his body and that is why in a church the priest would bless the bread and call it the body of Christ.

I think you have an idea my friend. But i think Jesus Christ is called the bread of life because all men needs bread that can satisfy there appetite. What i mean is that, people seeks something that can give them satisfaction. According to Blaise Pascal, "All men seek hapiness." So i think all people needs satisfaction and the things that are in this world cannot satisfy the souls of man. Jesus came into this world, to tell all the people that He alone can satisfy every human soul right? MOre power to you my friend.

He was called the bread of life coz its Him alone could save us and give us life everlasting...His word is bread to us to live by
