We live in a busy city, and I'm afraid to just let her loose on the town. I do want her to have a license for several reasons, but rush hour in this area is a mess, and I'm not totally sure she's ready to handle such a responsibility. Anyone else been in this situation? How did you handle it?

My son will be 15 in August, and will soon be learning to drive. At least we live in a rural area which makes it easier, but it's still scary. As with my other kids, I would like to take him out on the back roads and let him drive there before letting him drive anywhere near traffic.

I got my license and first car when I was 16. My parents got me a small car. The rules where I live is that any under 18 has to have 20 hours of diving with an adult before they can get their license. My parents would let me drive on side streets but not any busy streets at first. I did not think I was ready to drive but they got me in a driving school. I leared alot and I was not scared to drive with my parents on a busy street. But the rules for the first months was that I could drive to school and back and I could drive anywhere with them in the car.
