Hysterectomy at 25?

I am going to be 25 soon, and it has been recommended to me by several doctors to have a hysterectomy this year. I am scared to death of what might happen to me after the surgery. About a year ago, I had surgery in which the doctors took out my appendix, burned endometriosis, and tied my tubes. They discovered while inside that my uterus is beginning to prolapse, which is definitely taking its' toll on my love life with my husband. But being so young, I worry about what might happen to my body afterwards. They said they want to keep my ovaries for hormones sake, but I still worry. Has anyone else here had a hysterectomy at a young age? Does anyone else have a story to share or words of wisdom?

Hysterectomy is always avoided at a young age but if there is no other option left, you must have to opt for a hysterectomy even at a young age for the sake of your life. Moreover, it would not make any health problem excepting a psychological problem of not having any menstrual period anymore in life. So I think you need not worry.

I just had a hysterectomy and they left in my ovaries. I am 32...I thought I was young getting one. It sounds like it is something that will benefit you. The endometriousis was ruining my marriage too...it ruined my first one...so I thought I would take the next step and be pain free. I really can't tell you the benefits now because I just had it 5 weeks ago.

Just wanted to tell you I just had one and I am 31. Read my post and you may get scared into not having one, but it is worth it and I am happy. I had mine on 3/12/2007 and doing great. Sort of!

I had mine not at an young age. I was 40 years old. I am 43 now and I have to say I don't feel anything different. Just the period is gone. Really, just that. The hormones are still there.
