How much is too much?

How much do you think is too much. I haven't worked out in a while, so today I decided that I should get started again. I did a little Taebo a few weeks ago to get my body used to it and I think it worked because today this was my schedule for the morning: I jogged 1/2 mile (non-stop), then walked 1/2, walk/jog another 1 mile, walked only another 1/2 mile and then finished off when jogging 3/4 and walking the 1/4 that was left. That's a total of 3 miles in about 1 hour or so. In my prespective I don't think I pushed myself over my limit, but my Mom thinks I might have over done it for my first time back. What do you guys think? Do you know of any other types of good exercises outdoors instead of just jogging, running, and walking?
