Why are diamonds the most sought-after gemstones? Although a diamond is still the top choice for engagement rings, some women prefer other gemstones like rubies, emeralds or sapphires. After all, diamonds aren't really as rare as we've been led to believe. Tell us what you think -- are diamonds really a girl's best friend? greetings. : )

If my memory serve me right diamonds are rare stone and owning them is a good investment. As we can see the law of supply and demand manipulates the price of a certain commodity and that's explain any individual who can afford to purchase a diamond are really on craving for the most valuable one for they know in the future thier investment on it will double.

I suppose they could be for some girls. I am not one of those girls, though. I think it is great to have a diamond, but it isn't necessary at all.
