Is NBA live 2007 a good videogame?

Well, for me it's a great videogame

Having played every NBA Live game since 1995, I feel I'm qualified to answer your question with more than just a yes or a no. NBA Live is a great franchise. I've seen it evolve from a game any gamer could just pick up and play competitively to something a lot more sophisticated (not always a good thing). I've seen it experiment with alien players, Michael Jordan substitutes, aquarium basketball courts, and more, but generally the franchise gets better and learns from mistakes every year. Thing with NBA Live 07 is: it looks like the franchise took a step backwards. The last great NBA Live game I played was the one from 2005 (with Carmelo Anthony on the cover), and I played the heck out of that game. The following year, I was disappointed with all the changes and decided to just play it when asked by friends. I decided not to play one season, unlike the other NBA Live games before it. By the time I got my hands of NBA Live 07, I was itching to play the dynasty mode again, and I wanted to recapture that feeling I had with NBA Live 05 where I dominated seasons on end and was able to acquire the best of the rookies and develop them into superstars, but that was the only reason I'm playing it until now. Never did I enjoy the 2007 version as much as the 2005 (or the couple of NBA Live games before it), and for some reason the pace of the game and how "realism" put into the dynamics are not quite right. My friends have mostly switched over to the 2K franchise, but I'm still hoping the 2008 version of NBA Live gets it right. So back to your question. Is NBA Live 07 a good videogame? It is, yes, but only because I love the NBA Live franchise. If you're not a loyal fan, then perhaps you might want to try the other franchise. If you are a fan, though, give it a spin. It might not be the game you've learned to love, but a lot of the features, controls, and the feel are still there.
