Virus..." .doc files replaces with .exe files"..Have you encounter this?

My computer was infected with this virus from my friends when he copied his files from a floppy disk to my computer. The time he tried to open his files(.doc) it cannot be open and the file replaces with an .exe files. He had no idea what's going on and he continue to to click and open the files. But i didn't opened. Until my files are also replaces with an .exe files each time i open it. So i decided format my hard drive and re-install a new fresh operating system.
