Implementing a circuit to meet real industrial demands

I have implemented a simple circuit incorporating a PIC16F877A microcontroller, some transistors as switches to operate relays and with serial connections to a PC. It works in the normal conditions. But my supervisor wants to improve its quality such that to check its various parameters in different conditions and to improve it into industrial standards. How should my approach should be?
