which would you rather do? I honestly like paying taxes, i mean who doesnt like to recieve a big check in february, march, or april. If you get paid under the table you have nothing to show for in the beginning months of the year, and its even better if you have dependants. what do you think?

I really think it depends on how much u are getting payed under the table. If i am getting payed under the table a reasonabel amount of money then screw it ill take it under the table and not have to wory about taxes. But not all cases of gettin payed under the table are good, i would rather get payed a good amount not under the table and pay some taxes and get the same amount. It really all just depends.

I would much rather get paid under the table. Not one penny comes out of your paycheck. There is also some downfalls. There are no records of you even working there, so you can't use that for a future resume. Also if there is unfair business practices, you also can Sue because you are not an employee. But me, I would rather take the chance under the table. THANKS!

I agree in full. Thats one thing i would def. worry about would be the unfair business practices that could take place and me not be able to do anything about it. KEEP POSTING GOOD FEEDBACK!

Being paid under the table enables one to enjoy their money now as opposed to waiting to file taxes to get the lump sum. Be aware that you still have to pay taxes, as you are supposed to keep up with your income. If you are lucky and no records are kept, such as hours worked, or if you are a cash only transaction then you can "get away with" not paying taxes on those earnings.

If you are getting a big refund, you have loaned the government your money for free. You should adjust your w-4 form to have less taken from your paycheck. That way you would have YOUR money in your hands sooner and you wouldn't be loaning it to the government interest free. Check out the following sites for more information: http://givemebigmoney.blogspot.com/2007/01/tax-refunds.html http://www.givemebigmoney.com/tax_terms.html As for working under the table, you do lose the benefit to participate in such things as pension, 401k, ability to contribute to an IRA, and social security credits. It may not seem like a big deal now, but it will when you are ready to retire. Finally we all now that not paying taxes on income is against the law. The IRS has many methods for tracking down people who do not pay their income taxes. Don't assume that they won't find you because there isn't a paper trail back to you. It only takes one disgruntled worker to rat everyone out.
