life simulation

I was wondering if it would be possible to creat a virtual world in a supercomputer and create some bacteria in it.Then we could make time go faster there and we could observe evolution and even create Artificial Intelligence!
What about this possibility?

I think it will be dangerous if it's out of control. In some aspect. it's not a technical thing rahter than ethical one.
