Why some people posting things at mylot claiming they want an open discussion then they can't accept any response that doesn't 100% agree with them? I see people asking things (especially related to religions or moral issues) but actually all they want is that everyone come in and agree with them.. Why should anyone even bother to respond to their discussions if they don't need a different answer to what they give? Do you usually ignore such people or you step in and argue your point no matter what?

Your right, I do want to let you and everyone who reads this post know I post questions with religion and I do not want everyone to agree with me, the reason I post them is for me to have a better understanding for myself. I am new here and I like MyLot.

I'm happy that you said that I'm right or i would be very mad .. lol Yes I understand that there are many people discussing religion and open to all other views .. there are just some people who don't understand the difference between a "lecture" and a "discussion".

it's okey if people won't agree with my discussions. that's the main reason for discussing something...it's because we can't agree about everything. if we always just go agreeing with a certain topic, then, there's no need to discuss about that matter. just that people should know that they should stick to the topic. people here sometimes go beyond the topic and even giving suggestions that's too personal which is no longer obviously not included and not necessary in that certain issue.

I don't understand why people are like this. If you all have to agree with the member who post the discussion, then what is the meaning of "discussion"? By discussion word we mean that you can discuss your opinion about a particular topic, that may be both agree or disagree. If someone can't take disagree opinion better not to post that particular topic.

Exactly , i understand that not all people are tolerant to disagreements but what i can't understand is if you can't accept disagreement why start a controversial topic in first place? I think it's really sick that some people really enjoy this sadomasochistic discussions :(

oh , , i know what you're talking about , , i responded once to a discussion , , and you know what? , , the topic starter commented on me and said , , better not make a comment if it's not a good one , , duh?! i was just stating my opinions! is there something wrong with that? , , and after that , , i do not dare respond to those topics anymore , , hell ya , , i do not want to have negative ratings just because my opinions and beliefs do not agree with theirs, ,

Yes some people's definition of a "good response" is very weird .. lol

I tend to sit on the fence and try to see things where possible from both side, but as with religion/morals some people can't see the wood for the trees! So it best to walk away and mutter under your breath so to speak and let them live in their own tiny little world.

You should always try responding with your positive opinion no matter how many persons responses would not be the same as yours. That doesn't mean that you are wrong it just mean that you could be right and they all are wrong but they want to get favoritism.

To tell the truth i haven't noticed but even so it's nothing to big up about. well done for spotting it but its what you read/reply to, not everyone replies to posts like this. so i agree just not 100%. maybe 80 something. Kudos! (i'm joking)

I see what you are saying i have seen it happen many times. But just like the person who responds with their opinion the poster is also posting their opinion. This can led to arguing. What can you do about it?? I post my opinion in all my responses i am sure that not everyone agrees with me and thats ok. If we all thought alike oh how boring this world would be. We should all just respect and accept that not everyone agrees with what we think and try to take something from everyone. Hope this made sense i have a headache and it sounds so much better when i think about it than when i typed it out lol.

I think the purpose of a forum such as this is dialogue and debate. I enjoy having my beliefs challenged and when i open a discussion, I expect people to disagree. That's the fun of it. I don't appreciate anger. I won't tolerate name-calling. But I respect alternative points of view. And If the person brings up and arguement that I can counter, I will step in a counter. And that's fun too. I know we will never agree, but I do dig a good debate.

You are right, I tend to step in and argue my point irregardless. And if they don't like it, that's just to bad. We are all entitled to our opinions and if mine doesn't agree with yours, that doesn't necessarily make you right and me wrong.

You are right. Sometimes it seems as if people truly want an opinion or discussion-and are open minded, and other times, they only want someone to agree with them, or they just want to be arguememtative (spelling?) Sometimes I will respond if I think they are way off base, but other times-forget it, why add fuel to thier already dwaining fire?

lol.. I guess that's just showing you how unique and different we are to each other. Everykind of people to make our life beautiful. I guess everyone is entitle to their own opinion and all I can do is just respect their point of view. I am not here to argue, it's just draining my energy.

Bigotry is every where when it comes to religion. When I started myLot account, I had an intention not to participate in any discussion concerning religion having done that quiet sometimes before in different sites and actually in real life (it was like nightmares most of the time). However, I felt so tempted to enter hearing prejudicial thoughts about my religion. I have to tell you, it's a trap. I'm trying to get out of it right now :) As for your qyestion, I really try to say my point as clear as possible. If I entered a discussion, I'll stay in it as long as there is no name calling or bigotry. If I find that the one I'm talking to begins to be rude, I will just ignore him (after telling him that he's rude ;) ). You can't really change people's minds quickly you know. I have no problem at all debating my religion with anyone. I just would expect mutual respect as I think I deserve it.

good luck in getting out of the trap :) nothing wrong in defending your faith and clearing misunderstood points but if people don't want to understand there's nothing you can do about it also tolerating criticism is a must for anyone who wants to talk about his own religion. if you can't convince someone at least you gain the respect of all others here at mylot.

Usually I read through all the postings first and see what peoples responses have been. If the original editor is constantly arguing with peoples beliefs then I don't bother to leave a message. Life is too short to get into online arguements with small minded bigots!!

It's hard to just ask for opinions and then try to accept them. I mostly just let them go when it's my discussion, unless it's so out there, then I have to say something. I have to restrain myself something awful from wanting to argue. But I am learning to let it go more and more and just move on.

I dont ignore them i still give my honest opinion even if its not the same as the person who started the discussion. Person who start discussion should know and expect response from various kinds we are from different countries background etc. So for sure we you should get all kinds of response.

I try not to argue if something upsets me i will let it be known that i have noticed it but not in a confrontational way. But i agree with you if you ask for an opinion you should accept them all and not just the ones you like. You are right and this is a good discussion to bring up!

well in that case i will still give him/her my own opinion, understanding, and insights with regards to his/her topic. but if he/she wont agree with my thoughts well then its fine...i guess everyone is entitled for his/her opinion...too bad he/she is not that open mimded for new ideas which i think will give him/her more options if he/she would consider others thoughts...

I ignore people I like to stay away from controversy. I can take an opinion with a grain of salt. I may take things to heart a little more fast then I should but I would not want to be insulted because I would never insult anyone else.My problem came today when I came upon one dissuasion that was very nasty in my mind. And these people I will stay away from.
