i was at a resturant today eating lunch, and than i seem a couple walk in with a baby, and they sit down next to me, the server came up and settle them down, and the lady give the server 3 dollars as tip, and for the rest the time i was there, i swear to god that server go to that couple every 5 minutes or so asking if they want anything or if he could do something. personaly i think the server got change by the tips ahead of the time, i know he got other table to serve, he probaly been there now and than, he had put himself as slave to the money, maybe i am wrong about this, but the money or tips change him to serve them more, what do you think? do money change people or how they act for the time being?

We give the tip for the service, so the server (if he is honest) thought that he had to work for it. And he did it well.

that is my point, how could anyone tip someone before hand, that is like playing favor with other coustmer that is in the resturant, and make himself look like a slave

that is my point, how could anyone tip someone before hand, that is like playing favor with other coustmer that is in the resturant, and make himself look like a slave over a few dollars. i tip my waitress after we done eating and i left her 3 dollars too. too much attention could be bad too. people need their space when they go out to eat.

Like media, internet and just other kind of behavior that your friend has can really influence a person. Money is a very huge influence to people. It just changes everything. Everything. But like everybody said, Money can buy anything but can't buy everything.

to adidas: it's usually like that. people's simple way of practicing injustice. it's not a huge act of injustice but in a way, it really is. to weee-an: you are right, money is a great influence to many. my friends who married rich men changed a lot. it's as if i can no longer reach their status in life. but it's okey. as we said, it's reality. so, i should deal with it.

You are right, money change people. For a server serving is their job, they pay attention to a customer more or less according to their tip. But what you will say about your friends or relatives, they just change according to your good or bad situation(financial situation).

You are right. Shall I put it another way? Lack of money changes everything. Have you noticed how friends and relatives distance themselves or go closer depending on how financially healthy you are? Is it because of them or who we are being?

well, i don't think its right that the server did this. i've waitressed before, and i didn't do that. i just did my job, and was thankful for any tip i got. i guess i'm not a good butt kisser. anytime a tip is involved you just have to be thankful to have gotton one. i know alot of people that don't even tip. they feel the restaurant should pay their employees for their job that they do. So other people's money doesn't change me.

Money changes everything. Have you heard the Cyndi Lauper song? Here are the full lyrics. http://www.lyricsfreak.com/c/cyndi+lauper/money+changes+everything_20035163.html My partner tends to slip a bill or two to the doorman at a nightclub, to the Maitre'D at an expensive restaurant and it almost always gets us excellent service. This works particularly well when we visit the USA. It works very well in the developing countries such as India, Nigeria, Ghana, Indonesia, Brazil etc. What works best for us, is not just the tip - it is the genuine interest my partner has in good interaction with the staff. He usually has something pleasant to say to the waiter that brings a smile. He does that unfailingly regardless of which country we are in - and we have always enjoyed excellent service. Cheers!

who says money cannot buy happiness?in todays world where everything is influenced by money it is even possible to pay off the most innocent guy and get your work done.people need money in order to survive.gone are the days where the fittest will survive.it is the richest who will survive nowadays and the poor get crushed by them.it makes people literally heratless.there will be only a small percent who will totally be unfazed by money.

I believe that money does change people. I dont even live by people who are even that wealthy but the ones who are the higher class level so called around where i live act really stuck up and stingy. I think it changes you for the time being but if you get used to hanging around with people that arent as wealthy then you then you can change but until you do that then you will act different in most cases. Othe cases their are people that dont take thier money for granted and a thankful for what they are given and thas a whole different story.

Actually 3 dollars isn't even much of a tip, I'm surprised they even got better service for it. As a waitress for 7 years, I have never been tipped beforehand.

Yes, money change people, its true that people serve better when you give a tip first, because they are thinking that if they serve you better they will get more money. But not all people are the same and depending on the quantities of money. That is the reason we are here at myLot, money change people.

yea that is true, but than again that is not why i am here on mylot, god how often you get to meet the whole world under your finger tips, everyone is intersting. if i have a million bucks i would buy everyone dinner here on mylot but i dont. i dont view money the most important.

As I know money is very important to some people especially if they are poor, have a family to feed, have a debt to pay, have to pay for someones need like a sick relative or school..Money is not important to the rich but they are to the middle class and the poor..Maybe this server was expecting he will be given more by this patrons or he was serving them out of generosity for the way they gave him a tip.

maybe, but he lower himself too much , as almost his a slave, if fine that he give the good service, but too much attention is bad too. i wouldnt want someone come to me to ask if i want something or not every 5 minutes, you need to know when, and you got to give people space too. am i right?

Money does have an effect on people on their behaviour and their thinking. Some people are so desperate for money that they would go any lengths to earn it.People also pay more respect to the people who pay them more and are more rich. They treat such people very well.Even if he is not a slave to money,he prefers to get more money. So he acts accordingly. This is the general behaviour.
• United States
30 Jan 07
that is the kind of behavior that sicken me because, the lower themselve to people who is rich, the lost their dignity, just because they alreday gotten paid, doesn't matter if other people going to or not at the end, they go for the whole who paid first.

usually money change do change a lot. one, it change peoples physical grooming. two, it change his or her perspective in life. it would even change the people around. moneyed people usually go with those people who wants to earn more, e.g. businessmen, entreprenuers. in the situation that you mentioned, it might be that the server is into a situation that most people would respond the way he did. there are very few people who could and would stay very close to what and who they were before they got those extra money. and i like them. money should not be our master. instead money should be our servant.
