Jihad has nothin 2 do with war and terrorism. The Arabic word jihad is often translated as “holy war,” but a more accurate translation is “holy struggle.” Islamic scholars say the term “holy war” was actually coined in Europe during the Crusades to mean a war against the Muslims. In a purely linguistic sense, the word jihad means struggling or striving, not war!

Jihad is not necessarily a war, their is the Jihad against ones self, self-overcoming. Much of the Qur'an invokes peace whoever interpreters have, on occasion, ruled that one violent verse overturns any number with peaceful intent. Muslim countries, by and large, lack a dialectic system of education that promotes independent critical examination thus it may be hard for people to not be swayed by bogus interpreters. At least one Muslim scholar has stated that a strict interpretation of the Qur'an produces doctrine more in line with Christianity than with Islam as it is practised. all the best urban

I'm not a Muslim but I don't believe that they exclusively view jihad as an act of violence. In the extremists point of view that may mean fighting or even killing in the name of Allah. But not all Muslims adhere to that same cause. They have voiced their sentiments on this and a lot of them agree that jihad may mean fighting against sin, violence, etc. Some people would really take a passage out of context and there lies the danger of misinterpreting some sacred texts.
