What do you think about tvs in cares; do you think that they are safe or a dangerous item to have? I can not tell you how many times I have seen a tv UP FRONT with the driver and they are watching it, while weaving in and out of trafic. This behavoir can not be safe. I would love to have one for long trips, but not for me for others in the car, and even then it would have to be with ear plugs sometimes. I know that it would be like having the radio on, but I think you would get more envolved with the tv program than you would a song. Could be me. What do you think and do you have one in your care; does it disrtact you?

I have an HUD upfront because it's a standard feature in my cars. It has GPS, internet and tv capabilities. I guess it all boils down to the discipline of the driver. I usually use the local channels when I'm in heavy traffic.

i have a portable dvd player for my son, so it is not in the car all the time, we only use it on long trips and even then he holds it and listens to it on headphones, so that way it does not distract me while i am driving.

Having TV on the back seat is okay, since it's meant for the passengers, the driver has no business watching TV while driving because that will be very dangerous

I think having a tv in the car is so very dangerous to the driver and even if its in the back because you tend to listen to the tv and that can distract you. And therefore we dont need to be distracted when we have other peoples lives in our hands.

Its stupid to have tvs in cars, atleast in hte front of the car..It is a distraction and cars were not made to watch tv in. Only time i see tvs in cars as suitable is if your going on a long trip and you have kids (IN THE BACK) then its ok..but driving and trying to watch tv at the same time...is a hazard..dont worry though the govt will wait till a few hundred people die because of it first to change anything.

I think that the tv in car is a device much dangerous! In the cars there are already distractions like the radio and the cellphone, also the gps navigator is dangerous if is setted up in motion. I think that the tv is one distraction greater of the others!

I think that having a TV in a car could easily be just about the most distracting thing for a driver ever.. I defintely also would not have one up front where the driver could become distracted by it. It would be okay to have one for the other passengers of the car, especially in the back, though. But only if the driver were not able to become distracted by it *laugh* It worries me thinking that there is anyone out there attempting to watch television while they drive. That is just plain scary!

tv's in cars are only really dangerous to drivers because they are the ones that need to concerntrate on the road and driving their car if like me you can ignore them theyre not dangerous at all, i have a small screened tv on my car stereo 3.5" and i have 2 screens on the headrests for people in the rear of the car to view them i can sit driving the car totally ignoring them while driving whilst others watch them, i can even adjust the stereo with my hand whilst still looking out of the windcreen i guess im gifted like that maybe because ican even work on a car without seeing what im doing as long as i have a direction i know my hand needs to go in i can undo and tighten things without looking at them. so in conclusion for me as a driver theyre not dangerous but for other people as a driver they may well be dangerous.

the only time i'd have one in the car would be for the kids in the backseat. i do agree that it might be more distracting than the radio. having one upfront is just plain stupid and should be illegal!

yeah buddy, it would definitely distract anyone driving the car, so in order to avoid the driver's attention towards the TV , two steps to be followed 1. the TV should be at the center of the roof, that is it can viewed by only the person who sits in the back seat and not by anyone sitting in the front seat even the seat beside the driver's seat. 2. Head sets should be provided for them who are watching TV. Thats it, it would not drag the drivers attention towards TV. Also driver can listen to music with less volume without disturbing the TV watchers. Thanks

I think TV's in cars in general is a very fun idea. FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT. I think it is very dangerous for the driver to be watching tv while driving. They are very cool and fun but only when used safely. Headphones should be used for safety precautions as well. But other than that it is a very nice car accessory.

I can see putting one these in a minivan for kids but up front is retarded and I think even in the back would distract me when driving.

ive never seen the actual driver watching them before but i definetly dissagree with having them in a car on other grounds. Children already watch far more tv and movies than they need to and now its everywhere they go even in the car the attitude is put a movie on and shut up the kids, thats pretty pathetic and uninventive parenting. Now on a very long trip i could see the value in having a video along for kids for a break in the entertaining the parents have to do but for short trips it can be a nice time in the car to sing with kids and play word games and shouldnt be just another way to bombard your kids with media that there already getting to much of everywhere else

Personally I could not have a tv installed in my car, unless it was totally out of my range of sight. I have a very short attention span and I would be instanly attracted to whatever was on the television, which would pose a big safety hazard when driving. I think even if I was not looking at the TV, I'd still be LISTENING intently to it, which would really harm my concentration level to the road. TV is different from music, music can become background noise; you listen but don't concentrate too hard on it. Dialogue usually is really concentration-consuming. Personally, I think TV's in cars are way too dangerous to have.

We have a DVD player in our van but it is behind the drivers seat and only the passengers in the rear can see it (plus there are 2 sets of headphones available for it), so it's not a distraction. I couldn't imagine having it up front, to me that would be a major distraction and very dangerous.

I do believe that it is illegal to have TV's up front in any vehicle. I drive a minivan, and I have a portable TV/VCR that I can take along with us. For everyday running around, it is in the garage. I do take it if I have a trip more than 2 hours. I plug it into the lighter and then wedge it between the two front seats. This has saved me so many times on long trips. One time when we were on our way camping, me driving and 5 kids, it was pouring rain, the tape jammed and I now had 3 kids fighting and yelling. I pulled over on the parkway, just to see if I could fix it, and lo and behold a state trooper pulls up to see if everything was okay. He actually fixed it for me, which made for a very pleasant 3 hour drive to our campsite. Once there (we were booked there for a week), it rained nonstop for 5 days! We left after the 5th day, couldn't take it anymore. But the campsite had electricity and cable. I went to a local store, bought a cable wire and the kids were able to watch TV in the tent. After that trip alone, I wouldn't trade my TV for anything!

It is dangerous to drive vehicle while watching T.v. I feel it is better not to have in cars.
