Should I apply for this new job?

I've been in sales for the past 7 years. I'm selling a product I believe in and it doesn't really feel like sales. The customers mostly come to me. I don't have to search them out. Things have changed at the company with new ownership a year ago. While I still love my work, I no longer have respect for management and I am very frustrated. I decided I am a customer service person, not a sales person. Yesterday, I was looking at jobs on-line and looked at a company which was trying to recruit me last year. They still have positions open but I'm leery about working in sales again. Today, I was reading the employment section of the paper and the manager from the company I was looking at yesterday called and asked if I might possibly still be interested in working for them. It is a very good company. They treat their employees well and they are growing. Is it fate that he called me today? I feel like I should go for it just because of the coincidence. Or should I remind myself that I don't want to be involved with sales? I appreciate any feedback you have.

I think sometimes destiny steps in and we should follow what we have been shown. You are dissatified with your present job, no one should work where they are unhappy..your customers will soon see that and they will be affected. Check out the new job offer. Perhaps you are reading into it more than you should. Go talk to them, see what it involves, won't hurt and perhaps you will find the job will trun out to be exactly what you want. Maybe you are truly a sales person at heart. Life opens up so many choices for us and I know by personal experience, if we ignore those doors we sometimes find we made the wrong choice. So, pull up your boot straps, head high and go check them out...Be Happy...we only have one chance. :) I will be crossing my fingers for you!

When you loose faith in the company with....In time you will really be better off looking for another one....If you aren't happy there that's a good sign to start looking....Be sure it's really what you want before you change job....Leave the one you have on good terms then if you have to you can always go back

As frustrated as I am right now, I truly love working for the newspaper. If I leave, I would like it to be a classy exit and not burn any bridges. Thank you for the good advice.

If you are not happy with the company, you will loose faith in the product. It is going to happen eventually. I would take hold of this opportunity and at least go to the new company and check them out. Go meet with the managers, talk to the staff and get a feel for the place. If you like it there better, take the job. It is a risk, but you may be happier there and make more money. Remember - you will never know what you really can accomplish is you don't take any risks.

Thank you. Risk is scary but it is necessary to grow. The new company is a good one and I have a lot of respect for their Chief Operating Officer as well as two of their board of directors.

Sounds like you were losing faith (with management) in the current company you work for. I completely understand that feeling. It also sounds like you've done your homework with the new company, too. I would go by instinct after you check them out a little more. If you feel more positive about one job then the other, try the job that wins out the positive thoughts. Sometimes we look too long at a closed door to see the new door opening in front of us. Best of luck to you!! :-)

If your not happy where you are, make the move. You should not be miserable at any job, it's not worth it. They don't care about their employees. I wish you luck if you go.

Thank you, howard. I'm not totally miserable where I am. I love the work that I do. But management here does not value hard work and customer service as much as they do, oh heck, I don't know what they value. I just know I work as hard as I can and I can't make my bonus while my coworkers play on their computers and they get rewarded. Hey, if you move to Tallahassee, make sure you shout hello.

This company seems to be a professionally managed one, where the management care about the employees and value their feelings. That is one of the major factors, among the other things, responsible for the steady growth of a firm. I would sincerely suggest that you accept their offer if you are not that averse to sales. I am sure joining a firm like this will help one utilize his/her professional expertise in order to achieve organizational and personal goals.
