I know a lot of people that are scared of Semi trucks on the Freeways. They are afraid of their size and their drivers. Do they scare you? Make you nervouse? Why? I'm not afraid of them anymore. After doing it for two years I actually feel safter traveling with the big trucks than I do with other cars. I also have a lot more respect for the truck drivers. Your opinions please!

I dont even drive yet but when I am on the freeway in the passanger sit I am very scared of them big trucks. Once we were on the highway and as we were driving a truck did not see us and tryed to move to the other lane and didnt even know we were there until we beeped the horn. I thik that God was on our side that day!

What about them scares you? Their size? Not seeing cars is the biggest complaint truck drivers have. The rule is that if you can't see the driver in the mirrors they can't see you. Don't hang around and take your time passing them because they do have big blind spots. Even if you have to speed to pass them, I recamend doing it or staying behind them.

Of course, I am. If any of these trucks takes me, I'm powdered! I know they're quite difficult to drive. What with its enormosity. If it turns over at my side, boy, there is no way I will survive considering how heavy it must be. Yes, I am aware that the drivers of these trucks are no regular ones. They are very much experienced already and they have very high confidence in what they are doing. It's just that I can't help it but be afraid because of its size.

lol. Sorry about laughing but I love the way you talk about it. The size is a bit of a worry. I also am very careful to give them plenty of space. They may not stop on a dime the way our cars do, but I have seen what happens when you don't stop and they do. I really would rather keep my head attached to my shoulders. Thanks for being honest!

I drove over-the-road myself and had to take a special driving course. I did not drive a semi. I know for a fact that truck drivers are well trained and are some of the safest drivers on the road. There are always exceptions, but by far, truckers are very safe drivers. Most regular car drivers do not have the habits of a truck driver. I will always give a truck driver a break on the road. It isn't always an easy job. There are too many crazy car drivers out there.

I totally agree. I wonder if everyone had to learn to drive a big truck and do it for 6 months if it would cut back on the number of accidents.
