Why is it that we finally reach our 50s and have a lot of our problems solved women start going through bad hormone changes. Just recently I have been experiencing PMS symptoms. I have never gotten these. In doing some research they say it's the start of peri-menopause. What fun!!! Anyone else starting with and what are you doing for it??? I don't want to go on medication, I want a more natural approach. Any suggestions??????

even black cohosh is a good herbal remedy for PMS. Studies show that it does alleviate the symptoms.

I went through menopause rather early but I can remember the PMS. For me it was just swelling and tenderness and I had to hae ex-lax and diuretics on hand to keep things as comfortable as possible. It didn' help that I take pain meds that also cause weight gain and irregularity. I had to stop dreinging coffee beyond one cup a cay for a while, and I had to just stop and avoid pushing myself too much. My situation was not "normal" so those were my options. Youo might try St. John's Wort to stabilize mood if that is an issue. Look into some essential oils as well. Clary Sage, Rosemary, and Peppermint essential oils are helpful when you blend them into grape seed oil and apply the blend to your wrists and the backs of your legs in the morning and evening. Look for natural diuretics to remove excess fluid from your system and things might balance out for you. Good Luck!

Well, sorry to hear that is happening to you. I have no experience in that department yet, but I hope you'll find some solution pretty soon.

Agnus Castus. Also known, in the USA, as Vitex. It has reduced my PMS symptoms by 80%. Not completely gone, and each month is different... some better than others, but it is great stuff. I have been taking it for over a year and I feel good. Much better. PMS is so real, and so awful. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are making it up if you feel PMS! It's real!
